LED Display Specifications

NARVEND supplies LED display systems across a pixel pitch range of 1.25 mm to 10 mm, from fine pitch indoor walls to large-format outdoor installations. The figures below describe the platform each system is built from. The delivered configuration is confirmed against the project.

Pixel pitch

From 1.25 mm to 10 mm.

Pixel pitch is the distance between the centres of two adjacent pixels, and it is the single specification that drives cost, resolution and viewing distance together. A 1.25 mm pitch packs 640,000 pixels into a square metre and reads as a continuous surface at arm's length. A 10 mm pitch packs 10,000 pixels into the same area and is built to be read from tens of metres away.

The practical question is the closest distance a viewer will stand at. Below about 2 mm, the display reads as a continuous image in boardrooms, control rooms, broadcast studios and luxury retail. Between 2 mm and 5 mm, it covers retail interiors, lobbies and exhibition stands. Above 5 mm, it covers building facades, roadside signage and stadium bowls.

What is LED pixel pitch explains the measurement. Pixel pitch and viewing distance shows how to convert a room into a pitch number.

Where each pitch lands

Range map.

  • 1.25 – 1.9 mm: control rooms, broadcast, fine retail
  • 2 – 3 mm: lobbies, showrooms, meeting spaces
  • 3.9 – 5 mm: exhibition stands, mall atria, indoor signage
  • 6 – 10 mm: facades, roadside, stadium and DOOH
Brightness

Indoor and outdoor are different problems.

Indoor configurations sit in the 600 to 1,500 cd/m² range, which is comfortable under controlled lighting. Outdoor configurations sit in the 3,500 to 7,500 cd/m² range, because direct sun raises the light level the display has to compete with.

Brightness is not a quality score. An indoor screen pushed to outdoor levels is uncomfortable to look at and wastes power. An outdoor screen specced to indoor levels disappears the moment the sun comes out. Orientation matters as much as the raw figure: a north-facing wall and a west-facing wall in the same city need different answers.

Brightness requirements covers how to size this against orientation and ambient light.

Power

What to provision.

Indoor systems draw about 400 W/m² on average content and up to 800 W/m² at peak white. Outdoor systems draw 450 to 500 W/m² average and 800 to 1,000 W/m² at peak.

Average figures matter for running cost. Peak figures matter for breaker sizing and cable cross-section. Both should appear in the electrical drawing before the structure is built.

Power planning covers distribution and thermal load.

Refresh rate

Cameras are unforgiving.

Fine pitch configurations run at 3,840 Hz or higher. A display can look clean to the eye and still band badly on camera, because a rolling shutter samples the screen line by line. Anything destined for broadcast, social capture or event filming needs the refresh rate specified up front. Discovering a banding problem on site leaves no room to correct it.

Refresh rate and cameras covers the relationship in detail.

Ingress protection

IP65, front and rear.

Outdoor cabinets are rated IP65 at the front and at the rear under the IP code defined by IEC 60529. Rating both faces matters: a cabinet that is sealed only at the front still takes water through the service side, the cable entry and the power connectors.

The rating needed follows exposure. A sheltered entrance and an exposed roadside position on the same building can justify different cabinets.

Reading an IP rating explains the two digits.

Cabinets and service

How the screen is reached.

Indoor fine pitch walls can be recessed into the wall with an installed depth from 8 cm, and support front and rear service. Choosing the service direction early changes the structural drawing, the cable routing and the maintenance plan, and it is expensive to revisit later.

Rental cabinets weigh about 4.5 kg and are about 85 mm deep, in an aluminium-magnesium-zinc alloy chosen for rigidity, corrosion resistance and heat dissipation.

Service access covers the trade-off between front and rear maintenance.

Confirmed per project

What is not on this page.

  • Final pixel pitch, cabinet format and screen dimensions
  • Brightness matched to orientation and ambient light
  • Structure, mounting method and cable routing
  • Power distribution and thermal provision
  • Certifications, warranty terms, lead times and prices

These are settled during engineering and commercial review, where they can be tied to the actual building and the actual brief.

Frequently asked questions

Specification questions.

What pixel pitch range does NARVEND supply?

NARVEND LED display systems cover a pixel pitch range from 1.25 mm to 10 mm. The finest pitches suit close viewing in control rooms, broadcast and retail interiors. The coarser pitches suit long-distance outdoor viewing.

How bright are NARVEND LED displays?

Indoor configurations fall in the 600 to 1,500 cd/m² range. Outdoor configurations fall in the 3,500 to 7,500 cd/m² range. The required value depends on orientation, ambient light and viewing distance.

Are these specifications fixed?

No. The figures describe the platform the system is built from. Final pixel pitch, brightness, cabinet format, structure, power provision and service access are confirmed against the project brief.

What ingress protection do outdoor LED displays have?

Outdoor cabinets are rated IP65 at the front and the rear under the IP code defined by IEC 60529. The rating needed depends on exposure, from a sheltered entrance to an exposed roadside position.

Does NARVEND publish certifications, warranty terms or prices?

No. Certifications, warranty terms, lead times and prices are confirmed per project during engineering and commercial review. Nothing on this page is a published figure for these.

Next step

Bring the brief.

A specification only means something against a real site. Send the viewing distances, the room or facade dimensions, the ambient light conditions and the content you intend to run, and the configuration follows from there.
