Curved LED Displays
Curved LED displays follow the geometry of a space instead of sitting flat against it. They are used to wrap a column, follow a lobby wall, enclose a stage or create an immersive surface where a flat screen would break the architecture of the room.
Typical specification ranges.
Curved walls are built from flexible PCB modules that follow the radius instead of fighting it.
| Parameter | Range |
|---|---|
| Pixel pitch | 2 – 5 mm |
| Module type | Flexible PCB |
| Brightness | 600 – 1,000 cd/m² |
| Power draw | 350 – 400 W/m² average, 800 W/m² peak |
| Viewing angle | 160° |
Figures describe the module and cabinet platform. Final values are confirmed during engineering review.

Concave, convex and what changes between them
A concave curve wraps around the viewer and is the common choice for immersive rooms, stages and feature spaces, because it fills more of the field of view.
A convex curve bulges outwards and is typically used on columns, cylinders and rounded structural elements that already exist in the building.
The two geometries change viewing angles, content mapping and how seams behave, so settle the direction of the curve early, before anyone is on site.
Radius, cabinet geometry and seams
Specialised curved cabinets follow a fixed radius and give a smooth, continuous surface. Standard flat cabinets can build a curve in steps, which reads as a faceted surface when viewed up close.
The tighter the radius, the more demanding the cabinet design. Very tight curves may require narrower cabinets or purpose-built modules.
Seams and module alignment are more visible on a curved surface than a flat one, because the eye can compare adjacent panels at an angle. Check this at the design stage.
Content mapped to a curved surface
Content designed for a flat rectangle will distort on a curved surface unless it is mapped to the geometry. Plan the content alongside the screen, not after it is installed.
Decide the viewer's reference position. A curved wall looks correct from the position the content was mapped for, and progressively distorted away from it.
Where the surface wraps a corner or a column, consider whether content should read as one continuous image or as distinct faces.
Structure and installation
A curved wall usually needs a purpose-built supporting frame or a substrate that matches the intended radius, since the cabinets cannot simply be mounted flat.
Confirm the building structure can carry the load, particularly for suspended or large-format curved walls.
Service access should be resolved before installation. Front-serviceable cabinets greatly simplify maintenance on a curved surface where rear access is often impossible.
When a curved display is the right choice
When the architecture already provides a curved surface and a flat screen would look imposed on the space.
When the goal is immersion - a curved surface fills peripheral vision and feels more enveloping than the same area of flat screen.
When viewers approach from multiple directions and a flat wall would present a poor angle to most of them.
Each system is configured for its installation. Pitch, cabinet format, brightness, control hardware and service access are specified against the site before supply.
Curved LED Displays: common questions
What is the difference between a curved cabinet and a faceted curve?
A curved cabinet is manufactured to a specific radius, so adjacent modules meet along a smooth arc. A faceted curve is built from flat cabinets set at angles, which reads as a series of flat panels. Faceted builds are more flexible and often cheaper, but the facets are visible at close viewing distances.
How tight can a curved LED display be?
The achievable radius depends on cabinet width and module design. Narrower cabinets and purpose-built curved modules allow tighter curves. If a design calls for a very tight radius, it should be checked against the available cabinet geometry before the layout is finalised.
Does content need to be produced differently for a curved wall?
Yes. Content should be mapped to the actual geometry of the surface, otherwise it stretches and distorts. This means the screen geometry has to be fixed before content production begins, and the intended viewing position has to be agreed because mapping is correct from a reference point.
Can a curved LED wall be serviced?
Yes, and front-serviceable cabinets are usually the right choice because rear access is frequently unavailable behind a curved surface built onto a shaped substrate. The service method belongs in the specification, not in the snag list.
