Rental LED Displays

Rental LED displays are built to be assembled, struck, transported and rebuilt many times. The format is used for concerts, conferences, product launches, touring productions and exhibition stands where build time, handling durability and camera performance matter as much as image quality.

Specifications

Typical specification ranges.

Rental systems are specified around handling speed: cabinet weight, depth, and how quickly a wall can be built and struck. Pixel pitch starts at 2.976 mm.

What makes a display rental-grade

Rental cabinets are designed around repeated handling. Corner protection, recessed connectors and robust locking systems matter because these panels are moved constantly instead of being installed once.

Assembly speed is a design requirement. Cabinets that lock quickly and align without adjustment reduce crew time, which is often the largest cost on a short build schedule.

Weight and balance determine how large a wall can be flown or stacked safely, so cabinet weight is a practical specification, not just a shipping detail.

Rigging, stacking and ground support

Rental walls are either flown from truss, ground-stacked, or a combination. Each method has different requirements for cabinet geometry, rigging hardware and load calculation.

Curved and angled rental walls use adjustable angle blocks or dedicated curved cabinets; the method determines which shapes can be built from a single inventory.

Any flown structure needs a load calculation and appropriate certification for the venue. Obtain the venue's rigging rules early, since they vary substantially between halls and countries.

Camera performance

Event screens are filmed constantly, by professional crews and by every phone in the audience. Refresh rate and driver behaviour determine whether the wall shows banding or flicker on camera.

Specify the camera requirement before the panel is chosen, because it constrains the driver and control hardware, not the LED itself.

Where possible, test with the cameras that will actually cover the event, including phone cameras at typical shutter settings.

Transport, storage and spares

Flight cases, labelled modules and a documented packing order reduce damage and speed up both load-in and load-out.

A travelling spares set - modules, power supplies, data components and a few tools - turns a fault on show morning into a five-minute fix instead of a blank section of wall.

Store and transport cabinets in the conditions the manufacturer specifies, and re-test the wall before each event instead of assuming last time's build is still sound.

Planning a rental inventory

Standardising on one cabinet format across the inventory lets panels be mixed freely between jobs and keeps spares interchangeable.

Consider the mix of jobs the inventory has to serve: a concert backdrop, a conference screen and an exhibition booth make very different demands on pitch and format.

Each system is configured for its installation. Pitch, cabinet format, brightness, control hardware and service access are specified against the site before supply.

Questions buyers ask

Rental LED Displays: common questions

What is different about a rental LED display?

It is built for repeated handling, not for permanent installation. That means protection at the cabinet corners, fast and repeatable locking, manageable weight for rigging, and a design that survives being packed and unpacked many times without drifting out of alignment.

Do rental displays need a higher refresh rate?

If the screen will be filmed, yes - it is worth specifying for. Panels that look clean to the eye can still show dark bands or flicker on camera. The driver hardware decides this, not the visible image quality.

Can rental cabinets be used to build curved walls?

Many rental systems support curved builds using adjustable angle blocks or dedicated curved cabinets. The achievable radius depends on the cabinet geometry, so the shape should be checked against the inventory before the design is fixed.

What spares should travel with a rental wall?

A practical set is spare modules, power supplies, receiving and sending cards, data and power cables, and the small tools needed for a swap. The aim is that a single failed module never leaves a visible gap during an event.
